The ultimate goal for healthcare organizations is the successful transition to ICD-10 this coming October 1. It would be early to say how many would are confident to get what they are aiming for. But only 4 states as reported by Modern Healthcare have been granted with a special “crosswalk” method. This mean that the 4 states, California, Louisiana, Maryland and Montana will be allowing ICD-10 codes in the ICD-9 format on a temporary basis.
This indicates that they don’t need new systems to evaluate payments. In addition to California Hospital association many healthcare organizations have voiced concern over the state by state basis management of the ICD-10 rollout. Experts believe that some more states will be getting the benefit to use crosswalk method.
